Authorities planning to issue an arrest warrant for a suspect knew that there were also two dogs that they had to remove from the commercial property located in Montclair, California.
Imagine their surprise, and disgust, when the doors opened to reveal close to 2000 more animals including chickens, exotic birds, fish, and snakes, in desperate need of saving and sadly, many that were already deceased.
According to the Inland Valley Humane Society and SPCA, there were an estimated 1,000 to 2,000 chicks and chickens along with 100 exotic birds being held in “appalling conditions” with no food or water in sight and next to no ventilation. The warehouse was also reportedly covered in feces and filled with trash.
As per its website, all of the birds are currently being evaluated and cared for by the Inland Valley Humane Society and SPCA.
The chicks and chickens found will be housed and cared for by Inland Valley Humane Society and SPCA staff at the Boys Republic in Chino.
The adoption of the rescued birds is pending because they are part of an ongoing investigation.
