Thousands of vegans “demanding an end to all animal oppression” are set to descend on the streets of London tomorrow during the 2nd annual Official Animal Rights March.
Hosted by activism organization Surge, in association with Save Movement UK and the HeartCure Collective, the highly-anticipated event is expected to be “bigger, louder, bolder and brighter” than last year’s march which drew approximately 2,500 participants.
According to the Official Animal Rights March Facebook event page, this year close to 4,000 people have confirmed they will be there with another 7,900 expressing interest in attending.
“The future is vegan, but we must take to the streets and continue to speak out on behalf of the animals until the day that their suffering ends,” explained the organizers.
The number of vegans living in the UK continues to rise with The Vegan Society estimating that there a minimum of 542,000 people currently maintaining a plant-based lifestyle in Britain.
Demonstrators will meet at Achilles Statue, in Hyde Park, before heading to Parliament.
As per its website, Surge approaches animal rights activism through well-orchestrated demonstrations, outreach events, films and online campaigns with a focus on positive community building.
