25 Cities From Around The World To Participate In The Official Animal Rights March On Saturday, August 25th

The Official Animal Rights March is set to take place this weekend on August 25th, September 1st, and October 6th as thousands of animal lovers across the globe take to the streets in a call to end animal oppression.

Founded in 2016 by Surge, a UK-based animal rights organization, the march acknowledges the successes of the vegan movement, but also serves as a show of solidarity for all those who are being needlessly exploited worldwide.

“This march is an embodiment of society’s changing attitudes towards non-human animals and is a precursor for a world that doesn’t just talk about equality and peace, but also lives by it” Ed Winters, co-founder of Surge, said in a statement. “The lives of non-human animals belong only to them and their existence on this planet is as valuable to them as ours is to us. Society must wake up and no longer treat life that does not resemble our own as inferior or less worthy. The future is vegan, so the only question is, which side of history do you choose to stand on?”

Twenty-five cities are participating in the global event including Berlin, Manila, Toronto, Miami, Washington, Los Angeles, and New York.

The first March was held in London in 2016 with only 2500 attendees. It grew to more than 5000 participants last year and is expected to double again this year; particularly as demand for vegan food and stricter animal welfare regulations continues to grow in the UK and across the globe.
