Men’s Skincare Line ‘Bulldog’ Becomes The First Cruelty-Free International Leaping Bunny Brand To Sell In China

Cruelty-Free International has announced that Bulldog Skincare is set to become the first international skincare brand to maintain its Leaping Bunny status while on sale throughout mainland China.

Leaping Bunny brands have previously been unable to retain their status in China due to continued requirements for animal testing of products.

Through Cruelty-Free International’s trial project, the men’s skincare company Bulldog will be supervised to ensure that their products will not face animal testing in China at any point during their lifecycle.

Bulldog’s products will be available in Watsons’ Shanghai stores by the end of 2019.

“At Bulldog, we have always challenged ourselves to make ethical choices when it comes to animal welfare. Even with the temptation of the huge Chinese market, we decided that we would never compromise our stance on animal testing,” Simon Duffy, Founder of Bulldog Skincare, said in a statement. “It is fantastic that this plan has allowed us to enter mainland China while maintaining our cruelty-free status. We hope that the success of this project will pave the way for more international cruelty-free brands to sell there.”

As noted on the company’s website, all Bulldog products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and they never use plastic microbeads, synthetic fragrances or artificial colors.

Last year, the sustainable company also became the first men’s skincare brand in the world to use plastic made from sugarcane in their product tubes.

“We are delighted to have one of our Leaping Bunny approved companies come through the pilot project to successfully enter the Chinese market. We know there is great demand from consumers in China for cruelty-free cosmetics,” stated Michelle Thew, CEO of Cruelty-Free International. “This is an amazing opportunity not only for Bulldog, but for consumers in China and for the future of the whole beauty industry.”

Cruelty-Free International has been working with Bulldog, in cooperation with Knudsen & CRC, Shanghai Fengpu Industrial Park and Oriental Beauty Valley, as part of its Leaping Bunny China pilot project.

Bulldog Skincare is currently available in more than 20 countries around the world.
