Breaking! Cow Smugglers Kada Mev & Shaukat Mev Arrested During Explosive Raid In India; 21 Animals Saved, 2 Officers Shot

Police in Kaman, a small town in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan State, India, conducted a raid on Sunday evening that resulted in the rescue of 21 cows and the arrest of suspected smugglers Kada Mev and Shaukat Mev.

As per the Hindustan Times, the event unfolded at the site of a barricade that police had created at the Bhagat Singh intersection to catch trucks transporting the cows to a slaughterhouse in Haryana, across the border.

While the smugglers in one truck escaped the scene after an exchange of gunfire that left two police officers wounded, one critically. 37-year-old Kada Mev from Kanbadi village, and 35-year-old Shaukat Mev from Jamalgarh in Haryana, were apprehended.

Two weapons and 11 live cartridges were also recovered from the suspects who were subsequently arrested under section Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation Temporary Migration or Export) Act 1995, Arms Act, 307, and Excise Act.

One of the culprits, Kada Mev, was found to already have a long list of charges registered against him for looting and cow smuggling in Bharatpur Kaman, Jurahara, Pahari, Sikri, Deeg, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Alwar.

Smuggling of cows for their meat has become so prevalent in Mewart region of eastern Rajasthan, the state government has set up six cow protection police outposts in the district.
