Breaking! McDonald’s To Test Beyond Meat P.L.T. Burger For 12-Weeks At 28 Ontario, Canada, Locations Beginning September 30th

The highly-anticipated announcement of McDonald’s entry into the plant-based burger offering arena was released this morning by the globally recognized foodservice retailer; it’s Beyond time!

McDonald’s will be conducting a 12-week test of a new plant-based burger called the P.L.T., which stands for Plant. Lettuce. Tomato. in 28 restaurants in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, beginning on September 30th. The P.L.T. is made with a Beyond Meat plant-based patty that has been crafted exclusively by McDonald’s, for McDonald’s.

“Being of service to McDonald’s has been a central and defining goal of mine since founding Beyond Meat over a decade ago,” Ethan Brown, Founder and CEO of Beyond Meat, stated on their Facebook page. “It comes after a long and productive collaboration to make a delicious plant-based patty that fits seamlessly into McDonald’s menu, and we are thrilled with the outcome.”

The McDonald’s P.L.T. is a delicious, juicy, perfectly dressed plant-based burger on a warm, soft, sesame seed bun with the iconic McDonald’s taste customers have come to love. Featuring a plant-based patty with no artificial colors, artificial flavors, or artificial preservatives, it’s a great-tasting “open wide and sink your teeth into it” sandwich. The P.L.T. will be priced at $6.49 CAD plus tax.

“During this test, we are excited to hear what customers love about the P.L.T. to help our global markets better understand what is best for their customers,” Ann Wahlgren, McDonald’s VP of Global Menu Strategy, said in a statement. “This test allows us to learn more about real-world implications of serving the P.L.T., including customer demand and impact on restaurant operations.”

WAN encourages people to not only try the P.L.T. but to share their positive feedback with McDonald’s so that this special plant-based burger becomes available in its more than 38,000 locations in over 100 countries!
