Breaking! Urgent Help Needed After A Dead Koala Is Found Screwed Onto A Wooden Post In Queensland, Australia

Yesterday, a dead koala bear was found screwed onto a post at an Australian park, and now help is urgently needed to find the sick person or persons responsible for this unfathomable act.

Koala Rescue Queensland posted a picture of the poor animal on its Facebook page noting that “All is not as it seems in this photo.”

Responding to a tip, members of the Koala Rescue Queensland tragically found that the koala that appeared to be climbing a wooden gazebo was, in fact, dead and screwed in place at Brooloo Park Lookout.

“This poor koala has been screwed to the pole with building screws, he is deceased, but whether or not he was when cruelly attached to the structure is unknown,” Koala Rescue Queensland posted on Facebook. “Please if anyone knows or suspects anything or anyone contact RSPCA directly. We are trying to keep our phone lines free for other call outs at the moment.”

As per Sky News, animal cruelty carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison or fines of up to $252,300 (£147,328) in Queensland.

“This is very disturbing,” Queensland RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty said. “Whether or not the koala was dead, how somebody would think this was in some way humorous when little kids go to that lookout area, is beyond me.”

The phone number for the RSPCA in Queensland is 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625). An online form and additional contact information for other RSPCA locations are available HERE!

This is heartbreaking on so many levels!
