California Residents: New Action Needed TODAY To Ensure AB 1254 Passes Next Hurdle To Protect Bobcats From Trophy Hunters

Thanks to your help, California bobcats have a fighting chance against trophy hunters! California’s bill to ban bobcat hunting passed through the State Assembly and is now heading to the Senate. Please take action today to ensure AB 1254 passes its next hurdle in the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee hearing on July 9th.

Assembly Bill 1254, sponsored by Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-54) would make it unlawful to hunt, trap or otherwise “take” a bobcat except in specified circumstances including depredation permits. Your support will protect thousands of these shy, solitary creatures from being ruthlessly killed by trophy hunters each year.

In the past decade, a small number of trophy hunters killed over 10,000 California bobcats. The Sportsmen’s Alliance, Calguns.netSCHOutdoors.com and the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action are lobbying against AB 1254 to protect their bloodthirsty interests.

Bobcats are California natives who play an essential role in the state’s ecosystems. Sadly, they often become victims of trophy hunting, car collisions, and rodenticide poisons, and also face habitat loss and wildfires, which all contribute to a declining population.

What YOU Can Do:

Banning trophy hunting of these beautiful animals is necessary to ensure they survive. Please contact your California state senator by phone and email to urge their support of AB 1254.
