Celebrities Take Action For Animals To Support The Pet Rescue And Adoption Act; Prompted Social Media Storm
A long list of celebrities were inspired to take to social media yesterday in support of Assembly Bill 485, The Pet Rescue and Adoption Act.
The notable names contributing to the social media storm, using #YesOnAB485, included high-profile people from the worlds of entertainment and music such as: Russell Simmons, Nikki Sixx, and Leona Lewis.
Kunal Nayyar, from the mega-hit television series, The Big Bang Theory, was among the actors acting out in favor of the California bill, as did Alicia Witt, Shannen Doherty, Joanna Krupa and Alison Eastwood.
Vegan racecar driver Leilani Munter and WWE’s Tyler Breeze, were also among the many animal-loving advocates who tweeted and posted their support online.
Assembly Bill 485, The Pet Rescue and Adoption Act, is a landmark bill authored by Assembly Members Patrick O’Donnell and Matt Dababneh, which saves animals’ lives and stands up to the cruelty of puppy mills. The legislation would replace puppy mill animals by adopting out dogs, cats and rabbits from local animal shelters and rescue groups in retail pet stores statewide.
Our group, Social Compassion In Legislation is honored to be sponsoring this important legislation. AB 485 will be a gigantic step forward in solving the state’s pet overpopulation crisis and will shut the door to the socially unacceptable cruelty of mill-bred animals.
AB 485 will be heard on April 18, 2017 in the Assembly Business and Professions Committee.
