Emanuel Exports In Australia Is Responsible For The Deaths Of Thousands Of Animals; Sign Petition To Ban Company From Live Exports Now!

More information and a petition have surfaced following last week’s heartbreaking news that 2400 innocent sheep had died during a live export from Australia to the Middle East in August of last year.

Emanuel Exports is the company responsible for the senseless deaths and, unfathomably, today had planned to transport another 65,000 sheep to the Middle East on the same ship.

Fortunately, as per abc.net.au, the live export ship “failed to satisfy an inspection and must provide evidence of improvements before maritime officials will allow it to set sail with livestock on board.”

A thorough investigation by Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) inspectors took place yesterday after the Awassi Express docked in Fremantle, Western Australia.

“AMSA has advised the master and ship operator that they will have to arrange a third-party airflow verification report to prove compliance with air flow standards before an Australian Certificate for the Carriage of Livestock can be issued,” the AMSA noted in a statement.

As of now, it is not known what will happen to the 65,000 sheep and 250 cattle that were temporarily spared from the live export which was scheduled, beginning today, to deliver them to Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Qatar.

Horrifically, in July 2016, Emanuel Exports was also responsible for the deaths of an estimated 3,0000 sheep that had also died from heat stress while en route to the Middle East.

“How many animals have to die before…”

It is heart-wrenching and unfathomable that this inhumane practice is even allowed to continue at all!

Australia has strict live animal shipping laws and regulations that help ensure animals aren’t treated cruelly during the journey nor in the country for which they are destined. In fact, the government has banned or suspended live exports to countries like Indonesia and Egypt in the past.

If Emanuel Exports is not able to comply with Australian laws and are unable to deliver live sheep in healthy condition then the government should no longer allow them to do so.

Sign this Care2 petition urging David Littleproud, the agriculture minister, to ban Emanuel Exports from live animal shipments HERE!

You can help all animals and our planet by choosing compassion on your plate and in your glass. #GoVeg
