3 Men Busted In Sting Operation By Hawks Endangered Species Unit For Allegedly Selling Rhino Horn

Three suspects were arrested in Equestria‚ Pretoria after it was alleged that they intended to sell five rhino horns to undercover officers during a sting operation. They were then arrested by Hawks Endangered Species members.

Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi: “The trio were led to their hide-out‚ where a further three rhino horns were found and seized. The eight horns are estimated to be worth over R800‚000.”Screen Shot 2016-08-16 at 9.31.13 AM

The Hawks team examined the hide-out again as part of their ongoing investigation and were stunned to find a massive haul of almost 105 rhino horns.

“The Hawks team is validating the alleged permits‚ issued by the Department of Environmental Affairs‚ as well as taken DNA samples of all horns to compare them to the Rhodis database at Onderstepoort‚” Mulaudzi said.

The three suspects appeared at in the Pretoria Regional Court. All suspects were granted bail.
