A heroic dog played a crucial role in saving his owner’s life following a severe car crash in the northeastern mountains of Oregon.

On June 2nd, at approximately 9:28 a.m., Brandon Garrett was driving with his four dogs on a remote road in Oregon when he crashed into a ravine. According to a Facebook post by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, one of his dogs traveled nearly four miles to the campsite where Garrett was staying with his family to alert the group.

After the crash, Garrett managed to crawl 100 yards away from his car but was unable to go any farther, resulting in him spending the night in the ravine with his dogs.

Fortunately, his family was able to locate him the next day when they heard his cries for help. Unable to reach him due to the rugged terrain, they promptly dialed 911.

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Baker County Search and Rescue, Pine Valley Rural Fire District, and Halfway Ambulance all arrived at the scene. Upon reaching Garrett, they safely placed him in a rescue basket. Utilizing a highline rope system, they transferred him across the ravine to a team of SAR members and medical personnel on the opposite side.

Garrett was transported by Halfway Ambulance to a Life Flight helicopter, which airlifted him to a regional hospital for medical treatment.

Thanks to his faithful canine companion, Garrett was rescued from a perilous situation, demonstrating the unwavering loyalty and life-saving abilities of man’s best friend.
