Defending the Endangered, a non-profit that works with many endangered animal rescues, sanctuaries and rangers to educate, rehabilitate and protect wildlife all over the planet, is hosting its first annual For the Love of Animals Gala, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 in Burbank, CA.
Founder and President of Defending The Endangered, Jon Mack, also an accomplished actress and musician, has announced that famed animal advocates Katie Cleary and William (Billy) McNamara will be honored at the must-go-to function that boasts live musical entertainment, incredible original art, delicious catered food, international guest speakers and a silent auction among other surprises.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to benefit two worthy non-profits, which are close to Mack’s heart, and remain on the front lines of the critical battle to protect and save endangered species: The Rhino Rescue Project and the Black Mambas Anti-Poaching Unit.
“While we are thrilled to host this special evening of enlightenment and fun, we do so mindful of the many tragedies that continue to occur at the greedy hands of poachers,” said Mack, whose powerful music video, Weapon of Choice, serves as a reflection of both her creativity and passionate commitment to defending the endangered. “The Rhino Rescue Project and the Black Mambas Anti-Poaching Unit are tremendous non-profits and are vital to saving the lives of many endangered species. We are proud to be able to support them and the extremely important work that they do.”
The Gala is also a time to recognize outstanding leaders in the animal rights and welfare community such as World Animal News (WAN) Founder and Producer Katie Cleary. In addition to WAN, which is hailed as the CNN for Animal News, Cleary is the Founder and President of Peace 4 Animals, creator and producer of the 2015 Netflix award-winning documentary Give Me Shelter as well as an actress, top model and vegan.
Actor and avid animal rights activist and vegan Billy McNamara will also be honored at the event. McNamara, who now travels the world advocating for animal rights, has produced several documentaries, including Nat Geo Wild’s Animal Intervention, an exposé on the exotic animal industry in the United States.
Founded by Jon Mack in 2015, Defending The Endangered is an inspired movement designed to unite artists, social pioneers, thinkers, healers and celebrities in a collective effort to raise awareness about poaching and trophy hunting, and help put an end to it.
