Great News! Kiah, is the first Pit Bull Police Dog in NY to receive a public service award from the ASPCA!
Kiah is one of the dogs who joined the NY K9 unit because of the wonderful team at Animal Farm Foundation.
Kiah is a wonderful dog, she is so easy train because she loves to please people. She’s incredibly smart and of course her sense of smell is on point for detecting illegal drugs.
Animal Farm Foundation and Austin Pets Alive work together with Universal K9, which is a training program, to rescue Pit Bulls from shelters and train them to be police dogs all over the U.S.
Instead of Police Departments spending $10,000.00 to $15,000.00 for a trained Belgian or German Shepherd, they are now taking Pit Bulls from shelters and training them, which are proving to be amazing Police and Military K9’s.
Interestingly enough, the hardest thing for Police Dog trainers to teach Pit Bulls is to be aggressive towards people.
We always say “It’s not the breed, it’s the owner!l Congratulations Kiah on your first public service award!
