The King Of Speed! The Cheetah!

It’s International Cheetah Day! The Cheetah is the undisputed King of speed, reaching top speeds of 75mph, 0-60 in 3 seconds!

The Cheetah holds nature’s land speed record for 10 million consecutive years!

We must save the Cheetah from extinction as there are only about 6,600 Cheetahs in 29 populations left in the wild. There are less than 2,000 Cheetahs now in protected areas.

Iran has between 60 and 100 Cheetahs in 5 populations, which are the last remaining Asian populations, and that subspecies is Critically Endangered.

Southern Africa has about 4,190 Cheetahs with the largest subpopulation of 3,940 Cheetahs in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, SW Zambia and SW Mozambique. Zimbabwe has only about 165 Cheetahs left.

East Africa has about 2,572 Cheetahs with the largest population at 710 in the Serengeti/Masai Mara/Tsavo landscape in Kenya and Tanzania.

There are about 446 Cheetahs in West, Cental and North Africa, with the largest populations in Chad/CAR (217) and Algeria/Mali (201). The North African subspecies is Critically Endangered.
