WAN’s charity Peace 4 Animals has a special connection to a newly-rescued calf that was saved from a horrendous life where she had been torn away from her mother on the day she was born and left to live in deplorable conditions.

Roselynn, as she is now named, was found by an all-female investigative team working on behalf of the animal rights organization Direct Action Everywhere (DxE).

Sadly, she was one of many neglected calves that were covered in maggots and suffering in extreme heat while held prisoners in filthy wooden boxes at Zonneveld Dairy; a California dairy supplier to butter brand Land O’Lakes.

When the team approached the frightened young calf, who was near death, she feebly tried to escape. It was quickly determined that Roselynn was also underweight, dehydrated, had a fever, and needed to be removed from that house of horrors as quickly as possible.

Fortunately, little Roselynn responded to the compassionate team of rescuers who proceeded to carry her to safety.  Roselynn was subsequently nursed back to health and is now enjoying her new-found freedom.

WAN’s charity Peace 4 Animals was happy to sponsor the rescue of this sweet soul.

“Peace 4 Animals is thrilled to have been involved in the brave rescue of Roselynn,” said Katie Cleary, whose organization also recently sponsored the rescue of Red, the cow, who was spared from slaughter and transported to Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch (JARR) on October 5, 2017. “We must work together to raise awareness and save as many lives as possible, and a fantastic way that everyone can help is to maintain a plant-based lifestyle.”

As previously reported by WAN, in May of this year, a similar investigation by Compassion Over Killing revealed the violent abuse mother cows are being subjected to at Mason Dixon Farms in Pennsylvania; one of the largest dairy farms on the East Coast and the first in the U.S. to implement “robo-milking” of cows by machines.
