Pinky, the rare pink bottlenose dolphin was recently spotted again after 8 years with her family in a Louisiana lake. After recent pictures were taken of Pinky, fans seems to think that she may be pregnant.
Pink dolphins are very rare and are said to have albinism, where their bodies do not produce the chemicals that pigment the Dolphin’s skin to the color grey.
Captian Erik Rue who discovered the Pinky swimming with her mother in 2007, was able to capture photos of Pinky swimming with another dolphin believed to be her mate.
Captian Rue said that he saw Pinky mating last summer and is interested to know that if she were to become pregnant, whether her calf would be pink or not.
“We still see her swimming almost every day in the summertime. We’ve seen her a lot in the last few weeks. She looks so happy and healthy.”
