Animal Avengers

For animal lovers in New York City wanting to spend an evening helping to save endangered species by raising money playing in a charity poker tournament, and mingling with celebrities and animal advocates, join us for Shannon Elizabeth’s Animal Avengers All-In 4 Africa Fundraising Event!

The charity poker tournament is taking place on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, starting at 6:00pm at the famed Friars Club in the heart of NYC, the fundraiser also boasts an open bar, vegan hors d’oeuvres, a live auction, gift bags and much more.

Shannon will be hosting the event along with friends and fellow animal advocates Theo Rossi, Wilmer Valderrama, Joshua Bowman, Tamsen Fadal, Joseph D. Reitman, Travis Aaron Wade and Peace 4 Animals and WAN’s own Katie Cleary.

All-In 4 Africa is being held in honor of Tokkie Botes and raising funds for Flying for Freedom South Africa (FFFSA), his conservation organization that is dedicated to protecting Africa’s wildlife which is increasingly threatened by a poaching epidemic happening every day in Africa.

Remarkably, Tokkie has sponsored over 620 hours of flying his helicopter to aid the police in poaching crime scene investigations, flying veterinarians to emergency surgeries and assisting with critical calls from farm owners, as well as anti-poaching units to expedite timely response to property incursions.

Tokkie is currently the only private pilot to be cleared by the South African government to fly throughout Kruger National Park and assist with such critical operations.

Attendees wanting to double down at the event have the opportunity to win extraordinary live auction items and poker tournament prizes including once-in-a- lifetime experiences in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, helicopter excursions to see endangered rhinos in Africa, signed artwork and much more.

Poker pro Jonathan little and actor Ming Chen are also among those playing in the charity poker tournament.

After a decade of saving thousands of dogs and cats one at a time, in 2015 Shannon decided to find a way to help more animals on a much larger scale.

Increasingly aware and discouraged by the slaughter of wild animals in Africa at the hands of poachers and the subsequent impact it has on the fate of endangered species, Shannon relocated to South Africa where she remains committed to helping several projects already in effect, while also challenging the legal and political problems surrounding these issues.
