The Walking Dead’s Christian Serratos Visits The Gentle Barn Which Names A Cow After Her Character, “Rosita”

Christian Serratos may star in the television series The Walking Dead but she was very much alive when she recently visited The Gentle Barn in Santa Clarita, CA.

And, fortunately, so were a baby calf and his mother who were rescued last week from a Los Angeles slaughterhouse by the non-profit organization.

In honor of Christian’s visit to the sanctuary, Gentle Barn founder Ellie Laks named the mama cow “Rosita” after Christian’s character on The Walking Dead.

“We at The Gentle Barn Foundation are honored to name our new rescued mother cow “Rosita” after longtime animal advocate Christian Serratos’ character on The Walking Dead. Like the character Rosita, our new cow embodies strength, courage, possesses deep protective qualities and has an inherent will to survive,” said Laks in a statement sent to WAN. “She was rescued from a Los Angeles slaughterhouse with her baby calf, and we are so grateful to welcome them to The Gentle Barn to live free as nature intended.”

“As a new mom, it’s heartbreaking to think about what would have become of this beautiful cow and her baby calf,” Christian shared explaining how honored she is that Rosita the cow was named after her character further noting that it was “so fitting because she is fiercely protective.” “Thanks to my friends at The Gentle Barn, they will live their lives in peace together as mother and son. I’m so looking forward to bringing my daughter to the sanctuary to meet her and all of the other rescued residents!”

The Gentle Barn rescues animals from severe abuse and neglect as well as ones that are too old, sick, lame, or scared to be adopted into homes. The sanctuary is home to horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, llamas, peacocks, emus, cats, and dogs.
