Urgent! Sign Petition To Urge Advancement Of Bill H.R. 1406 The Dog & Cat Meat Prohibition Act In U.S.

Signatures are needed now on a petition urging Chairman Mike Conaway of the House Agriculture Committee to mark up, pass, and co-sponsor Federal Bill H.R. 1406 The Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act.

Once signed by Conaway, Rep. Kevin McCarthy can then pull the life-saving bill to the floor for a vote.

If passed, the bill will prohibit any person to knowingly ship, transport, move, deliver, receive, possess, purchase, sell, or donate a dog or cat to be slaughtered for human consumption; or dog or cat parts for human consumption.

“We want the message to be sent worldwide that human consumption of dog and cat meat is unacceptable everywhere H.R. 1406 is extremely important to all the groups working tirelessly to end the dog meat trade, not only in Asia,” said Marc Ching, founder of Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation (AHWF) which initiated the creation of the bill.

As previously reported by WAN, the bill was originally introduced and sponsored by Representatives Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL-20), Vern Buchanan (R-FL-16), Dave Trott (R-MI-11), and Brendan Boyle (D-PA-13).
