Urgent! Signatures Needed To Help Stop Horrific Animal Abuse At German Research Lab That Has Sparked Global Outrage

A shocking undercover investigation has exposed appalling animal cruelty in a medical research facility in Germany. The documented animal abuse occurring at the laboratory is something out of a horror movie, yet it is the tragic reality for the millions of animal victims of toxicity testing. Please urge European decision-makers to take urgent action to review animal testing laws in the European Union.

An undercover investigation conducted by Cruelty Free International and SOKO Tierschutz at the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology (LPT) in Mienenbuttel, Lower Saxony, Germany, has sparked global outrage. While working at the lab, an undercover investigator reported the routine torture of beagles, monkeys, and cats, as part of hellish toxicity tests.

This horrifying footage depicts beagles left bleeding in barren cages, sick from ingesting undisclosed substances from tubes that had been shoved down their throats. As facility staff conducted experiments on the dogs, they appear desperate for human contact and heartbreakingly wag their tails at the people responsible for their misery.

The video also shows monkeys who are restrained with barbaric devices around their necks. Their arms are also taped to chairs to keep them from moving, while they scream out in pain and terror. Some are shackled in tiny cages and rock back and forth as they slowly go mad. Their lifeless bodies are then dropped into buckets to discard like nothing.

And yet the cruelty depicted in this footage is not the result of a few sadistic scientists; in toxicity tests like these, the suffering occurs by design. The undercover investigator who filmed the disturbing footage observed that the “animals are injected with or made to eat or inhale increasing amounts of a substance to measure the toxic effects which can be severe and include vomiting, internal bleeding, respiratory distress, fever, weight loss, lethargy, skin problems, organ failure and even death. No anesthetics or pain relief is provided.”

This is the incomprehensibly cruel reality for millions of animals used for medical research.

What You Can Do To Stop It:

Cruelty Free International believes this documented abuse violates EU animal cruelty laws. We join them in calling for an immediate, comprehensive review of regulatory toxicity testing on animals in Europe, including the UK.

Please contact Karmenu Vella, European Commissioner of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to urge for Immediate Action HERE!
