Urgent Signatures Needed To Stop Alleged Animal Abuser From Opening A Pet Store In Virginia, Or Anywhere Else In The U.S.
WAN
A pet service company based in Loudoun County, Virginia, called Woofie’s is stepping up their call to action from concerned citizens who want to prevent a local pet store with the same name spelled differently, Woofy’s, from opening under the management of Ayman Koshok, a man who was charged with animal cruelty just six months ago.
As previously reported by WAN, Koshok and his brother, Kareem, were allegedly allowing animals to die without proper veterinary treatment, then storing their bodies in a freezer.
“What started as a trademark infringement issue, has now turned into an animal cruelty and animal rights issue,” Amy Reed, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Woofie’s, said in a statement. “It is our opinion that anyone who has been charged with or convicted of animal cruelty should not own or operate a pet store.”
Woofie’s started an online petition that has thus far collected more than 7,000 signatures.
“We are calling on members of our community, pet lovers, and those concerned with animal welfare, to stop the opening of the copy cat Woofy’s store in the Chantilly Crossing Shopping Center in Chantilly, Virginia,” noted the petition. “Not only do we want to prevent this store from ever opening, we want to make sure the Koshok brothers and others like them can never be allowed to own and or operate any pet-related business.
Woofie’s is also partnering with the group, Puppy Mill Free VA, which is organizing a peaceful, legal protest on public grounds, in the Chantilly Crossing Shopping Center on Saturday, March 14th.
