Urgent! Your Voice Is Needed Today To Help Stop U.S. Fish & Wildlife From Forming Advisory Board To Promote International Trophy Hunting

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service made the unfathomable announcement yesterday that it plans to form an advisory panel specifically dedicated to promoting international trophy hunting opportunities for US citizens.

That is why animal advocates must unite today and spread the message that trophy hunting is not acceptable under any terms!

According to Animal Welfare Institute (AWI), the USFWS has opened up a two-week comment period on the advisory council. Therefore, it is imperative that people contact the agency before November 25, 2017, and request that it abandon its plans to establish this council.

Misleadingly named “International Wildlife Conservation Council” is the latest in Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s many attacks on vulnerable wildlife.

The aim of the council is to deceivingly promote trophy hunting as a form of conservation. It will have the power to advise the USFWS on a range of topics, including which species receive protections under the Endangered Species Act, and how to make it easier to import wildlife products to the U.S.

This announcement underscores Secretary Zinke’s desire to prioritize the demands of wildlife exploiters above the desires of the majority of Americans who favor effective conservation policy.

Trophy hunting is not a sustainable or ethical form of preserving biodiversity. Besides the fact that trophy hunting demeans the inherent worth of the animals, typically very little of the hunters’ money goes to local communities. Our beautiful wildlife is worth so much more alive than dead, and brings much needed funding from ecotourism to many countries throughout Africa. Not to mention the future of our planet depends on these species to survive.

Furthermore, picking off the strongest members of a population, often the trophy hunters’ targets, can have devastating ripple effects across our precious planet.
