Italian luxury fashion house, GiorgioArmaniGroup, has just announced a ban on the use of angorawoolbeginning in the 2022-2023 autumn/winter season, adding angora to the list of excluded materials under its fur-free policy.
Armani Group, whose brands include Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, EA7, and Armani Exchange, implemented a ban on fur in 2016, making this additional step in banning angora, a win towards making the fashion world a cruelty-free one.
“I am pleased to announce the abolition of angora wool from all the collections of the Armani Group, testimony to our tangible commitment in monitoring our production with respect to protecting the natural world,” said CEO Georgio Armani, in a statement. “I have always believed in innovation and research of new materials and innovative methods for processing traditional raw materials.”
As revealed in a PETA Asia exposé, most rabbits used for their fur are stretched across boards as their hair is horrifically ripped out. Others are tied up before their fur is cut or shorn, and their delicate skin is cut open by the sharp tools as they struggle desperately to escape. They typically endure this agony every three months.
