WAN Update: Second “Teacher” This Year, Dewie Brenton, Fails After Drowning A Raccoon In Front of Students; While Puppy-Killing Robert Crosland Remains On Leave In Idaho

As another school year comes to an end, so does the career of Dewie Brenton, the agriculture teacher at a Florida High School who appallingly showed students how to forcibly drown a helpless raccoon.

Brenton resigned before he could be fired following the release of cell phone footage captured recently by a brave student that showed the “teacher” dunking a terrified raccoon trapped inside a metal cage into a garbage can filled with water.

“After 31 years,” noted an official statement released by Marion County Public Schools, “Agriculture teacher Dewie Brenton submitted a signed letter to the district indicating his retirement effective immediately on Thursday, May 17, 2018.”

31 years? How many more innocent animals were killed? And how many students were influenced by this ”teacher” promoting blatant animal cruelty?

The Marion County School District is no longer looking into the drownings due to Brewton’s resignation but fortunately, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is continuing its investigation. Animal cruelty is a third-degree felony in Florida.

According to Florida Fish and Game, raccoons and opossums, which Brenton also reportedly killed for “sport”, are considered “nuisance” animals and can be legally trapped during daylight hours. But they must be released or humanely euthanized.

There is absolutely nothing humane about encouraging students to drown trapped wildlife.

If convicted, Brewton could face a $10,000.00 fine and up to five years imprisonment for each of the three animals he allegedly killed.

What About The “Teacher In Idaho Who Fed A Puppy To A Snapping Turtle?

As previously reported by WAN, this marks the second deplorable animal cruelty case involving a teacher this year.

In March, junior high school teacher Robert Crosland fed a puppy to a snapping turtle in front of several students in Idaho.

WAN placed numerous calls to the school and authorities, to obtain the latest update on Croswell’s status,

Despite being pictured under the staff section on Preston Junior High’s website, WAN was told by an administrator that Croswell is currently on leave.

Scot Graf, from Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden’s office, was kind enough to return WAN’s call but stated that there is “no update as of now because the investigation is ongoing.”

Make Sure That These “Teachers” Are Held Accountable For Their Actions And That This Type Of Horrific Animal Cruelty Never Happens Again In Schools!
