WAN’s Most Wanted: Help Find Sick Human Who Buried A Battered & Bleeding Puppy In Hot Sand In Oahu, Hawaii

In another case of appalling animal cruelty, WAN has learned that an innocent puppy was recently left abandoned and buried in the hot sand at the Lualualei Beach Park in Waianae, Oahu, Hawaii.

“This beautiful girl, now named Leialoha, was found by one of our team members. Someone had just buried her and they had a machete so who knows what was next,” animal rescue organization Paws Of Hawaii stated in a post on its Facebook page last Tuesday. “This precious girl is incredibly swollen, sunburned and missing 90% of her fur.”

Fortunately, the PAWS team rescued the  puppy who was reportedly “bleeding from every part of her body” including from a cut on her leg from the machete. They brought the suffering animal to Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services for medical attention before she was released to a compassionate foster family who she will stay with until she has healed and can be adopted to a loving forever home.

As per an update posted on PAWS Facebook page this morning, Leialoha has received adoption inquiries from all around the world including from “a wonderful family from the Big Island that is interested in giving her a forever home.

Now, Honolulu CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department need the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to this crime which is considered First-Degree Cruelty to Animals.

A witness at the beach gave the following partial description of the alleged animal abuser to authorities:

Suspect: Unknown male
Race: Hawaiian/Filipino mix
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 170 lbs.
Clothing: Dark, weathered clothing, hat and sunglasses

Anyone with information about this incident should call Honolulu Crime Stoppers at (808) 955-8300. Tips can also be left on the Crime Stoppers website HERE!
