Alley Cat Allies Offers $10,000 Reward For Information On The Poisoning Of Stray Cats In Ohio

Alley Cat Allies, a global leader in the protection of cats and kittens, is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the prosecution and conviction of those responsible for the antifreeze poisoning of community cats at a mobile home park in Warren, Ohio. Authorities believe that at least three cats have died due to this disturbing act of cruelty.

On March 26th, the Animal Welfare League (AWL) of Trumbull County’s Humane Investigations Department responded to a call from concerned residents about suspicious activity in the Blue Water Manor mobile home community. Upon an investigation, agents discovered three bowls of tuna laced with antifreeze and bleach, with a bleach bottle discarded nearby. The evidence strongly suggests that local community cats, or unowned cats that live outdoors, were deliberately targeted and poisoned.

Antifreeze, which contains ethylene glycol, is a deadly substance for cats. Its sweet taste makes it particularly tempting to animals, but as little as one teaspoon of the chemical can cause severe poisoning and death. Cats who ingest antifreeze endure a slow, painful demise, and this inhumane act has left the community devastated.

“Alley Cat Allies is working closely with the Trumbull AWL to ensure that justice is served for the cats who suffered and died due to this senseless and horrifying cruelty,” said Charlene Pedrolie, President and Chief Operating Officer of Alley Cat Allies. “We urge anyone with information to come forward—these cats deserve justice, and there are likely many more animals at risk.”

Anyone with information about the poisoning incident is encouraged to contact the Trumbull AWL Humane Investigations Department at 330-539-5300 or humane@AWLTrumbull.com. Your information could be critical in helping to bring those responsible to justice.

Alley Cat Allies continues to advocate for the safety and well-being of community cats and will work tirelessly to ensure those who commit such heinous acts face legal consequences.
