URGENT: Saipan Humane Society Appeals For Help After Typhoon Sinlaku Devastation
The islands of Saipan and Tinian have been devastated by Typhoon Sinlaku, which tore through the Northern Mariana Islands, leaving widespread destruction in its wake. Homes have been damaged or destroyed, power remains out in many areas, and access to food and clean water is severely limited. Amid the crisis, both people and animals are struggling to survive.
At the heart of the response is the Saipan Humane Society, the only animal clinic on the island. Helping more than 6,000 pets each year, the organization operates with a small but dedicated team of just 4.5 staff members alongside volunteer veterinarians. While the clinic itself sustained minimal structural damage, the surrounding conditions have pushed both the community and its caregivers into crisis mode.
As residents focus on rebuilding their lives, many are unable to afford veterinary care for their animals. In response, the Saipan Humane Society is currently providing free emergency veterinary services, distributing food where possible, and offering critical support to animals in need.
However, the organization is now urgently pleading for assistance to continue operating during this recovery period.
Immediate needs include:
• Supporting staff during temporary closures and recovery efforts
• Ensuring the clinic can reopen fully and safely
• Maintaining lifesaving veterinary care for animals impacted by the disaster
Without outside help, the ability to sustain these services is at serious risk, just as demand for care continues to rise.
In communities already strained by disaster recovery efforts, animals are often the most vulnerable and overlooked. The Saipan Humane Society is working to prevent that outcome, but cannot do it alone.
Donations and shared awareness are urgently needed. Every contribution helps ensure that injured, hungry, and displaced animals continue to receive care in the wake of one of the most devastating storms in recent years.
To support recovery efforts and help keep the clinic operating, contributions can make a direct difference in sustaining lifesaving care for Saipan’s animals.
In the aftermath of Typhoon Sinlaku, helping this small clinic means helping thousands of animals survive and recover alongside their community. Please donate HERE!
