RFK Jr. And Secretary Rollins Celebrate Ridglan Farms Closure As 475 Beagles Head To Rescue
Following the historic announcement that Ridglan Farms is closing, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins issued a statement celebrating the decision as a major victory for animal welfare.
The closure of Ridglan Farms marks a significant milestone for the thousands of beagles bred for laboratory research and testing at the controversial Wisconsin facility.
“Today USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and I secured a major win for animal welfare. Ridglan Farms will transfer its remaining 475 beagles out of a research breeding facility and into the care of a no-kill rescue, where they can begin the path to adoption,” stated Secretary Kennedy.
“Thank you, Lara Trump, for championing this issue,” he added.
Secretary Kennedy also announced a major step toward replacing animal testing with modern, human-based science in the United States:
“We are also launching a new NIH office, ORIVA, to speed the transition away from animal testing and toward modern, human-based science. We will keep fighting for humane treatment of animals, better science, and accountability.”
The decision follows years of investigations, advocacy efforts, protests, and public scrutiny surrounding the Wisconsin breeding facility.
World Animal News has been reporting on the movement to free the Ridglan Farms beagles from the beginning, highlighting the investigations, advocacy efforts, and rescue campaigns that helped bring national attention to their plight.
The remaining 475 beagles are expected to be transferred to Big Dog Ranch Rescue, where they will become eligible for adoption and finally experience freedom, compassion, and loving homes for the first time in their lives.
The closure of Ridglan Farms represents one of the most significant victories in the ongoing fight to end the use of animals in research and expand the adoption of modern, human-based alternatives.
