The rhino poaching crisis in South Africa’s Kruger National Park is once again raising alarm after conservation organization SORAI reported a devastating surge in killings.

According to SORAI, reports from the field indicate that 10 rhino carcasses were found within a single week in one area of Kruger National Park, underscoring renewed concerns over the escalating poaching crisis.

In a heartbreaking message shared on social media by SORAI’s founder, Kevin Pietersen:

“Just alerting everyone that the butchering of rhino in the Kruger is back up to as bad as it’s been. It’s horrific to hear what I’m being told over the last few days.

“10 carcasses found in one week in one area.

“I will NEVER understand why!!!!! NEVER!!!!

@oursorai never stops! Day and night, we work!!!!”

Kruger National Park has long been at the center of the global fight against wildlife trafficking. Despite years of anti-poaching efforts, organized criminal syndicates continue targeting rhinos for their horns, driving one of the world’s most devastating wildlife crimes. Rhino horn is trafficked illegally to satisfy demand in parts of Asia, where it is falsely believed to possess medicinal properties and is also sought as a luxury status symbol.

Every rhino lost is a devastating blow to the future of the species. Conservationists, park rangers, law enforcement officers, and organizations like SORAI work tirelessly, often risking their own lives, to protect these magnificent animals and dismantle the criminal networks responsible for their slaughter.

World Animal News and Peace 4 Animals stand with everyone fighting to protect Africa’s rhinos and urges governments to strengthen anti-poaching enforcement, dismantle international wildlife trafficking networks, and end consumer demand for rhino horn before more of these majestic animals are lost forever.
