REST IN HEAVEN, JACKIE: Beloved Bald Eagle Passes Away After Weeks Of Critical Care
World Animal News is heartbroken to share that beloved bald eagle Jackie has passed away at Ojai Raptor Center after a courageous battle for her life.
People around the world followed Jackie’s journey and prayed for her recovery. Sadly, her condition continued to deteriorate despite the extraordinary efforts of Ojai Raptor Center’s veterinary team and specialists.
“It is with profound sadness that we share that Patient 26-519 passed away in the early hours of this morning, following more than three weeks of intensive medical care,” Ojai Raptor Center shared.
Jackie remained critically ill while receiving oxygen therapy, supportive treatment, and around-the-clock monitoring as the veterinary team worked tirelessly to care for her.
Following her passing, Jackie’s remains were transferred into the care of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Ojai Raptor Center plans to share additional information regarding her treatments and test results as it becomes available.
“Our team is heartbroken. It has been an extraordinary privilege to care for her,” Ojai Raptor Center shared.
Jackie touched hearts around the world through her remarkable life in Big Bear Valley. Her beautiful bond with her longtime mate, Shadow, captivated countless people who followed the pair through Friends of Big Bear Valley’s live eagle cameras.
Together, Jackie and Shadow helped foster a deeper appreciation for bald eagles and the importance of protecting wildlife and the habitats they depend on.
