Taco Bell Goes ‘Beyond’ In New Partnership With Beyond Meat Bringing Plant-Based Options To The Fast-Food Chain In The U.S.

Taco Bell‘s CEO Mark King recently shared some delicious news for the new year in a video featuring King’s voice as a talking potato, teasing a new partnership with Beyond Meat.

In the video, King explains that Taco Bell had to simplify its menu last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic by eliminating their signature potatoes, but they will be available again beginning on March 11th. King also teased that Taco Bell will be going “above and beyond” in the new year.

“Taco Bell chose to team up with Beyond Meat as a category leader with a proven track record of attracting younger customers with its irresistibly delicious plant-based offerings,” the restaurant explained in a statement. “Although Taco Bell has long been a destination for vegetarians, this will be the brand’s first foray into plant-based meat in the United States.”

According to Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s Global Chief Food Innovation Officer, this year, the brand will have more meatless options in store for vegans, vegetarians, veggie-curious, and even meat-eaters.

The new partnership is an expansion of Taco Bell’s parent company, Yum Brands, which has a working relationship with Beyond Meat. As reported by WAN in December of last year, Beyond Meat also worked with Pizza Hut, which became the first national pizza chain to bring a plant-based meat pizza to the masses with the nationwide launch of new Beyond Pan Pizzas.
