A tragic fire at a mini zoo and children’s play center in Hertfordshire, England, has claimed the lives of all animals housed at the facility.

Emergency crews were called to The Jungle Box in Buntingford during the early hours of June 10 after a fire broke out at the facility. Despite firefighters’ efforts to contain the blaze, none of the animals survived.

According to the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, no injuries to members of the public or emergency personnel were reported.

The animals that sadly perished in the fire included meerkats, owls, tortoises, lizards, and other exotic species kept at the zoo.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as authorities work to determine how the blaze began.

The heartbreaking loss of so many animals serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of wild animals when they are kept in captivity and unable to escape during emergencies.

World Animal News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
