Update On Jackie: Ojai Raptor Center Reports Latest Bloodwork Shows Worsening Anemia

Ojai Raptor Center has shared a concerning update on Jackie, the beloved Big Bear bald eagle.

According to the center, “Today’s bloodwork brought some difficult news. Her packed cell volume (PCV) has dropped to 13%, which means her anemia has worsened since our last update.”

This latest development marks a significant setback after Jackie’s packed cell volume had previously improved to 16% following a lifesaving blood transfusion, raising hopes that her condition was improving.

The veterinary team is responding quickly, with additional advanced diagnostic testing underway and expedited laboratory testing requested as they work to better understand the cause of her condition and determine the next steps in her treatment.

While Ojai Raptor Center said it does not have further answers to share at this time, it will continue providing updates as meaningful new information becomes available.
