New PSA Featuring Actor Jason Momoa & Other Well-Known Advocates Urge The U.S. Government To Relist Wolves Under The Endangered Species Act

Today, a powerful PSA launched starring actor Jason Momoa that urges the Biden administration to restore federal protections for America’s wolves. The film highlights the environmental and cultural significance of wolves and why protecting them is critical for their survival as a species.

Momoa describes how wolves “defend our ecosystems, inspire our culture, and even became our best friends.” But as Momoa notes, wolves are in danger.

In October 2020, the Gray Wolf was removed from the endangered species list by the Trump administration, undermining and weakening the Endangered Species Act. Since then, wolf hunts have devastated the species, with states like Montana and Idaho permitting hunts to kill up to 90% of their wolf populations. In February alone, 200 wolves were slaughtered in under 60 hours in Wisconsin.

#RelistWolves is a campaign launched by a coalition of NGO’s, scientists, concerned citizens, and political campaign strategists, that aims to add wolves back on the Endangered Species List.

Momoa howls in protest of these hunts and encourages President Biden to restore protections for wolves. He tells viewers, “We have the power to stop the slaughter by putting the gray wolf back on the Endangered Species List. Go to RelistWolves.org and raise your voice for the wolves.”

The three campaign focuses are:

• Science: Wolves are ecosystem guardians, they are essential to the overall health of their natural habitat.

• Tribal Treaty Rights: Tribal Nations must be heard since they were never consulted in the delisting of the gray wolf.

• Ethics: This is an animal cruelty issue. The current hunting practices aimed at the gray wolf are egregious, unethical, and politically motivated.

Along with Momoa, the film also features famous comedian Iliza Shlesinger, world-renowned rock climber Conrad Anker, and National Geographic photographer Filipe Deandrade.

The PSA was produced by Sender Films, which has also created documentaries, tv shows, and commercial content in the outdoor space. The film was co-produced by the #RelistWolves campaign, spearheaded by Leslie Williams, Lizzie Hoag, and Wolves of the Rockies.

Use your voice to call on Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland to acknowledge and respect tribal leaders representing over 200 tribes across the United States and relist wolves.

These tribal leaders requested a meeting with her on September 14th, 2021, to discuss the emergency relisting of wolves pending the status review. Unfortunately, they have been ignored.

Please take action by asking your representatives to put pressure on Deb Haaland and President Biden to #RelistWolves, HERE!

You can help all animals and our planet by choosing compassion on your plate and in your glass. #GoVeg
